I recently converted a recumbent trike with TAV's motor and the install was super easy. The team helped me pick the right battery too.
It feels great and cycling to the office and back is so easy now. The motor is quiet and the display is clear in sunlight.

FAQ
The questions we get asked most by Australian buyers — answered plainly.
Yes. The TAV MD250 is rated at 250W and limits pedal-assisted speed to 25 km/h — which meets the national standard for power-assisted bicycles under Australian Road Rules. This means it is treated as a bicycle, not a motor vehicle, and does not require registration or a licence. Always check your local council bylaws for path and trail restrictions.

The kit is compatible with any standard 36V eBike battery. We recommend a 14.5Ah pack for a range of approximately 80–100km on pedal assist. Smaller 7.8Ah or 5.6Ah packs are lighter options for shorter commutes.
You can purchase a compatible battery from most Australian eBike retailers or contact us at store@tavsystems.com.au and we'll help you find the right one.
The MD250 fits bikes with a 68mm or 73mm threaded bottom bracket shell — which covers the vast majority of Australian road, mountain, hybrid and cruiser bikes. It does not currently fit bikes with press-fit bottom brackets (common on some carbon-frame road bikes).
Please contact us before purchasing if you're unsure. We're happy to confirm fitment from your bike's frame details.
Most people with basic mechanical skills install it in 2–4 hours using our step-by-step PDF guide and YouTube installation video. The lock-nut tool is included in the kit.
If you're not comfortable working on your bike, any local bike shop can install it. Several Australian bike dealers have purchased and installed our kits for customers. Contact us if you'd like a recommendation near you.
The kit comes with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. As an Australian company operating under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), you are also entitled to consumer guarantees that apply regardless of any warranty we provide.
